This lifestyle newborn session was so dreamy. I had a spacious and light-filled nursery to work with which really made these photos so soft, light, and airy. I highlighted their gorgeous nursery decors as well and loved seeing some photos from their maternity session printed and framed already in the room!
Let’s talk about lifestyle sessions! Some people wonder what the difference is and if they should come to my studio or choose to do an in-home session. Here’s what to know about lifestyle sessions:
• I include your home and areas of natural light (wherever that may be)
• I try to tell a story. It’s not all just posed portraits. I try to do some more candids around the home and details to bring your memories right back to this moment.
• I still do some posed portraits of baby on the posing bean bag but it differs from my studio photos on the posing bean bag. I use natural light and do just a handful of simple and wrapped poses. This is because an in-home session is not set up or suited for a full-on posed newborn session.
• In lifestyle sessions, your newborn will be held for most of the photos or placed on a bed, or crib. Siblings and pets are welcome too.
• My makeup artist can meet you at your home before the session to get you ready if you choose to add this service. My client wardrobe is also still open to you, I bring a few options if needed.
• You don’t need to buy anything special for the session, I bring all that is needed for your baby. However, you are more than welcome to have items ready that make your photos more unique to you.
• You don’t have to have a gorgeous home, but I would recommend making sure it’s clean (in the main areas where we would take photos) and that you have some areas with good natural lighting and lighter/neutral walls. I can take photos anywhere, but know that your home environment will affect how the photos look and feel. If you want a deep dark and moody green accent wall included in your newborn photos, by all means, don’t let me stop you! I enjoy seeing all different styles show up in my work. 😉
