This beautiful baby girl came to my Cumming newborn photography studio at 1 week old. We played around with my wooden box prop and some flower headbands and accessories per mom’s request. I love the natural feel of these photos with a touch of color and accessories to add some personal style to the photos. I’m especially loving those macro close ups and detail shots of her little lips and newborn skin.
You can see we did photos in props, and also on the bean bag. I love the mix of creamy fabrics and wood tones in a gallery. The great thing about coming to my studio is the ease of transition from prop to bean bag to parents arms, etc. It makes for a smooth session flow and I can typically get a good variety of photos, even if baby is a little fussy. Although I do have prep instructions I give to all my clients to help insure that their baby is nice and sleepy for the session, because it does make posing much easier.
I use a mix of studio light and natural light in my newborn sessions. I like to use studio light for all the newborn portraits because it works much better at flattering their skin tones, as we know babies tend to be red and blotchy, my studio light subdues that and makes for easier editing. After the posed newborn part of the session, I then take down the studio light and open up the blinds and pose parents in front of my natural light windows with white sheer curtains as a diffuser. I love how this creates a warm glow to my parent shots. If you like this session, you may also like this simple and sweet session of baby Ellie.
